Test Your Internet Connection with Speedtest.net

Happy Friday everyone. Busy week, but 2011?s got some real gusto to it so far. And along with that gusto came a new office for Grovo. As we set up shop we had a new Internet connection installed, and, being the nerds we are, we had to test its performance. We used abroadband speed analysis tool called Speedtest.net.

Speedtest is a free service that gauges your Internet connection by measuring the rate at which information is sent from the Internet to your computer and vice versa, otherwise known as your download and upload speeds, respectively. Speedtest also reads your ping latency, which measures the time in milliseconds that it takes a tiny piece of information to be sent from your computer to the Internet and back again.

To test your Internet connection head to the site andclick on the large yellow star presented on the map, as shown below.

Click ?Your Summary? in the upper right corner of your browser window to view the data pulled together. Below is an overview of Grovo?s Internet connectivity.

Speedtest is a useful tool, whether you?re a small business moving into a new office, a college student setting up your dorm room freshman year or a full time freelancer working from home and testing out the new connection you just bought.

It?s also reliable: the service?s Web site states that it?s used to perform over 1 million tests every day.

Go ahead and test your upload speed if you?re planning on uploading a large file to gauge how long it will take. You can also get location-based metrics, such as top bandwidth speed by country.

Happy Internet using, and have a good weekend.

Best,

Eric
